Jasper is a handsome Yellow Labrador Retriever with a heart as golden as his coat. He came to ROOT Rescue as an owner surrender after the woman he has loved for much of his life became seriously ill and could no longer provide him with the care and attention he deserves. Making the decision to surrender him was incredibly difficult, but it was done out of love so Jasper could have the happy, active life he deserves.

Jasper is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. He enjoys running around, playing, and being active, but he is just as content curling up beside you for hours of relaxation. He is a smart boy who even uses communication buttons to let his family know what he wants, making him an especially fun and engaging companion.

He is house-trained, crate-trained, and has wonderful manners in the home. Jasper sleeps quietly in his crate overnight and has previously been trusted to free roam the house while his family was away for 8–10 hours. He is a well-adjusted dog who is familiar with a home routine and is ready to become a beloved member of another family.

Like every rescue dog, Jasper will need time to adjust to a new home. A new environment, new people, and a new routine can be overwhelming at first, so we are looking for a patient and committed adopter or foster-to-adopt family who will allow him the time he needs to settle in and thrive.

Jasper has been vet checked, neutered, is up to date on his vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, and has been tested for both heartworm and Lyme disease.
