Meet cal
Cal is a 2 year old Colorado Mountain Dog (with papers). We bought him from a breeder in Colorado to be a guardian livestock dog. He is very friendly, gets along great with other dogs, cats, kids, and humans. He does great as a livestock dog (not sure how he'd do with chickens). He has the sweetest demeanor and loves to sleep lazily on the front porch or in the shade. We bought and trained Cal to guard our herd of sheep, which he does great at. However, our sheep are kept in a hot wire fence (not a permanent fence) and Cal is able to sneak underneath and the shock doesn't bother him. We have tried a GPS collar to keep him on the farm but again and shock doesn't bother him (we assume it's because he's so big). So he wonders and sometimes crosses the busy road in front of our farm. We love Cal, but we cannot find a solution to keep him safe and since we live on a working farm, putting in a permanent fence isn't an option. He needs a home with a fence to keep him safe.
