Meet sugar the dogo argentino
URGENT! Poor Sugar - at just around 2.5 y/o and 65 lbs., this gentle female Dogo Argentino has not had an easy life. She’s already been through two owners; with the most recent one, she was being kept in an outdoor pen with minimal socialization, and that owner sent her to the local over-crowded kill Shelter because the neighbor was trying to poison her (this was all in the south, of course). We can also see from her teats that she’s been subjected to having multiple litters of puppies. Then, we thought she had it forever, family who backed out on her at the last minute, leaving her completely homeless with nowhere to go.
Despite all of that, she is SOOO sweet and affectionate! Now in a boarding home in the greater Philadelphia area, she desperately needs a long-term foster or adopter, preferably with a playful male dog her size or larger. She seems to love male dogs her size or bigger, but has not had a lot of experience with dogs that are smaller than her. And although she has not exhibited an extremely high prey drive when out on walks, she does seem very interested/curious about the resident cats so we can’t say with any level of confidence that she would be suitable for a home with Cats. She does however walk excellent on the leash, and she is crate trained!
