Sweetie may be little, but she has a big heart just waiting for the right person to help it bloom. This darling young dachshund/chihuahua mix is a gentle, goofy girl who may be a little shy at first, but give her a couple of minutes and you will see her sweet personality start to shine. Once she feels safe, Sweetie is playful, curious, and oh so endearing. Sweetie loves the company of other small dogs and enjoys playing chase with her furry friends. She would likely thrive in a home with another dog to help boost her confidence and give her the social companionship she loves. Big dogs are a little too much for this petite pup, so she prefers friends more her size.
This quiet little girl has moderate energy, enjoys toys, and has the cutest quirky habit with treats. She will take one piece, hide it away for safekeeping, then trot back for another like a tiny treasure collector. Her kennel is her safe place, where she settles in comfortably and relaxes, even if she has not quite mastered going in on command just yet. Sweetie came from a Texas shelter scared and underweight, but she has already shown just how resilient she is. She is still working on potty training and building confidence with new experiences, but with patience, love, and a gentle routine, this timid sweetheart is sure to blossom.

Sweetie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 6/6/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
