Meet Echo!

Some dogs walk into foster care and immediately demand belly rubs, treats, and attention.

Echo isn't one of those dogs.

This 12-year-old, 7-pound black dapple Dachshund arrived quietly after being rescued from a home with more than 60 dogs. For the first couple of weeks, she preferred the company of the other dogs in her foster home, seeking comfort in their presence while she carefully observed the humans around her.

And then one night, something magical happened.

Echo walked into the bedroom, climbed the doggy stairs, hopped onto the bed, and nestled herself into a human's arm for the very first time.

It was a small moment to most people. To Echo, it was huge.

Every day since then, this sweet senior has become a little braver. She now wags her tail when she sees her foster family, enjoys being pet, and is slowly learning that people can be a source of comfort, too.

Echo is a gentle, easygoing girl who enjoys the simple things in life: a cozy bed, a tasty treat, and the companionship of another dog. She has formed a special friendship with a senior canine housemate and can often be found snuggled up beside them. She absolutely loves treats and is highly food motivated, making her one of the easier dogs to win over.

While she's still figuring out leash walking and city life, Echo enjoys getting outside for fresh air and watching the world around her. She is house trained, puppy pad trained, travels well, and has no resource guarding tendencies. Her biggest demand each day? Breakfast, which she enthusiastically announces with a few barks to make sure nobody forgets.

Physically, Echo is impossible not to adore. She has the cutest bow-legged waddle, a beautiful black dapple coat with hints of brindle, and a tail tipped with white that looks like she accidentally brushed against a freshly painted wall.

Echo isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for patience.

She needs a family willing to celebrate the little victories—the first tail wag, the first cuddle, the first time she chooses you. Because when Echo decides you're her person, it feels like the greatest gift in the world.

After spending 12 years as one of many dogs, Echo is finally learning what it means to be someone's dog. Now she's ready to find a family who will cherish every step of her journey.
