Meet warden

Warden is a 1.5 year old, 78ish lb, male Golden Retriever who is brand new to GRRAND.

He has reportedly shown some reactivity to men and some resource-guarding around his crate, but GRRAND volunteers are trying to assess his needs and have yet to observe any of these behaviors since his intake.  In an effort to assure Warden’s greatest success in a new home, we think he would likely be best placed in a home with experienced adults who have an above ground fenced yard, but we will continue to assess his needs over time.

Our GRRAND volunteer who spent time with him in the play yard and at the vet says: "This sweet and very handsome boy is full of great energy and zest for life. Warden enjoys sniff time in a yard and will check in with you to tell you what he has found. Warden rides very well tethered in a car. Apparently, he has some apprehension about being secured in a crate but will go into and out of a crate just fine. Warden likes to walk on a leash but would appreciate consistent guidance as to how to walk without pulling. He makes friends easily and so far isn't reactive to other dogs nor the cat at the vet. He pulls very stringly on a leash but this can easily be trained out of him. Warden is a treasure and has a very bright future, too. And, oh, so very handsome."

Warden is house-trained and crate-trained and sleeps in crate at night. He will need a family that has the time to give him the exercise and direction he needs as he is still just a young boy and needs plenty of activity and training.

We are still evaluating Warden, but at this time no small kids in the home and a secure above ground fenced yard are needed for him.

Please check back for more info but if you would like to meet him, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org.
