This little senior lady is cute as a button and fully aware of it. She loves kids, loves being doted on, and has a flair for making herself the most important presence in any room, which at her age, she has absolutely earned. Her foster family is completely in love with her.
She takes a little time to warm up to new people, and has a sort of process: she'll size you up, and yeah, she may be a little nervous while she does it, but she’d like you to know that does not mean she isn’t brave. Then, she’ll decide whether or not you're worth her time. If the answer is yes, we’re told that being in Benchseat's good graces is a very nice place to be.

She also has some feelings about other dogs. She doesn't hate them, but she's at a point in her life where she'd really prefer to be the only four-legged resident. The sole recipient of all the treats, the undisputed queen of the couch…the peanut butter to a Kong toy, if you will. This is not an unreasonable position for a senior dog to take, and we fully support her in it.

Benchseat isn't looking for a chaotic household or to compete for attention. She's looking for her someone(s) who will put her right in the center of their universe, exactly where she belongs.

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
