Meet malone

Meet Malone: distinguished gentleman, professional napper, and part-time grump.

This very handsome senior is on the lookout for a special home to spend his golden years — ideally one that appreciates a dog with strong opinions and excellent eyebrows (we assume). Malone is a one-of-a-kind fellow with a few quirks, but once you take the time to understand him, he has a sneaky way of stealing your heart.

Malone doesn’t see or hear very well these days, so he prefers not to be startled. When he’s unsure about what’s happening around him, he may give a quick “hey now!” snap — it’s just his way of saying he values personal space. Think of him as a tiny, furry retiree with boundaries. He’s not a fan of face touching (same, honestly), but he absolutely melts for head scratches and back rubs. When he’s especially pleased, he makes the most delightful happy grumble — it sounds suspiciously cranky, but we promise it’s pure bliss.

He’s wonderfully easy to bathe and doesn’t mind being picked up and carried, as long as you’re gentle and let him know what’s happening. Once he learns the layout of his home, he navigates like a pro. He can even manage stairs going up — going down is still a work in progress, but hey, we all have our strengths.

Malone’s favorite place to be is wherever you are. He likes to supervise household activities and be in the middle of the action (retirement doesn’t mean disengaged). He kennels easily and actually enjoys hanging out there for meals and naps — door open, of course. Did we mention he’s very fond of naps? Because he is. Deeply committed to them.

He would do best in a home without children, as surprises aren’t his thing. He gets along just fine with other dogs who respect his space. He’s currently fostered with cats — we’re not entirely sure he’s aware of them, and everyone seems happy to keep it that way. The cats are polite, dog-savvy roommates.

At night, he snoozes peacefully on his dog bed. He enjoys walks — leisurely strolls, mind you. Marathon days are behind him. Outside, he gets adorably excited, wagging his tail with a little bouncy pep in his step. He loves to wander the yard, sniff every important smell, and thoughtfully select the perfect spot to conduct his business.

Malone may be a little grumpy, a little creaky, and a lot particular — but he’s also loyal, endearing, and full of quiet charm. If you’re looking for a sweet senior with personality (and boundaries), Malone might just be your guy
