Meet gia

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. At around 4 years old, Gia is a solid, sturdy medium-sized dog—though she has absolutely no idea how big she actually is. She is a hilarious walking contradiction: she is both a professional couch potato and an Olympic power-walker. She will happily lounge around all day just waiting for you, but the second it’s walk time prepare for a furry tornado of pure joy! Walks are her absolute favorite thing in the universe. Because she loves them so much, she does pull a bit on her leash. We don’t blame Gia for this, though—we entirely blame her past humans for failing to teach her how to stroll like the proper, refined lady she clearly is. A little leash training will go a long way with this smart girl. Just keep in mind that she is not very food motivated, so she will work much harder for your praise, love, and affection than she will for a treat! Gia was found as a stray in Ohio, and based on her delightful indoor clumsiness, we suspect she used to be an outdoor dog. She is awkward in the absolute best, most endearing way possible. She has zero spatial awareness, so when she gets excited, a coffee table bump is practically guaranteed. Navigating stairs? She sort of scrambles and fumbles her way up and down, but she always makes it happen with her own unique, goofy flair. Despite her clumsy moments, Gia is an incredibly polite houseguest. She is soft-spoken, rarely barks, and boasts a 100% success rate with going potty outside—we haven't had a single accident with this sweet girl! She eats her meals with excellent manners and loves to retreat to her kennel for a good nap. Because all of this "indoor living" is still new to her, she requires a large kennel space to call her own. Having that safe, roomy sanctuary helps her decompress and feel totally secure. When it comes to affection, Gia is a total lovebug who will literally melt into a puddle when you pet her. She becomes very attached to her person and thrives on being the center of your universe. Because she loves her humans so fiercely and is a bit protective of her personal space, we suggest she be the only dog in the home. (She is curious about cats, however, and will respectfully watch them without chasing!) While her feelings on sharing her space with other pups may change as she settles into a new life, for now, she wants to be the solo canine queen of your castle. Speaking of her castle, a fenced-in yard is an absolute must-have for this girl! Having a secure place to roam is essential, mostly so she can indulge in her favorite peaceful hobby: hanging out in the grass and watching the birds fly by in the sky. Gia is a ridiculously happy, beautiful girl who bravely walked away from her old life and into a brand new adventure. Will that adventure include you?   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
