Meet yoshimi [yoh•shee•may]
Yoshi is a really sweet dog. She wouldn’t hurt a fly, has endless love to give, and loves to play. She’ll be 6 years old on 6/1/26.
When she was about 7 months old she had her first seizure. She struggled with epilepsy, having about one seizure per month, until she was almost 2 years old. At that time, we switched vets and got her on the right medication and diet. Her last seizure was on 4/22/22, so she’s gone 4 years without one.
Yoshi is about 95% deaf from birth. She can’t hear well enough for communication or commands, only enough to hear really loud sounds like other dogs barking close, or pots and pans clinging together. Loud sounds used to trigger her seizures. Now they’re just a little confusing and alarming to her, but not an issue.
Yoshi is a master at reading body language and we communicate everything we need through hand gestures, which she responds really well to.
She loves playing fetch at the park, playing hide and find the treat, hiking, and snuggling before bed.
