While no one ever came forward to claim him, it`s clear he once belonged to someone who spent time teaching him the basics. He`s a smart boy with a solid foundation and is eager to continue learning with the right person by his side.True to his breed, Ansel is strong, intelligent, and full of energy. German Shepherds are working dogs that thrive on both physical exercise and mental stimulation, and Ansel is no exception. He will do best with an adopter who has experience with the breed and understands the importance of structure, consistency, and giving him a job to do.One of the things we love most about Ansel is how well he bonds with people. He has enjoyed several doggie day trips with volunteers, has done wonderfully meeting new people, and was an absolute gentleman during his grooming appointment. He has shown us that, despite the shelter environment, he is capable of settling in and enjoying new experiences.Ansel would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention. While in our care, he has shown that he prefers not to share his space with other animals. He was not successful living with a foster`s cat or farm animals, and he has been uncomfortable around other dogs in the shelter environment.
