Meet batty
Meet Batty! (Beatrice, if you’re from the government).
Batty came into the shelter as a stray, buried under mats so dense they had to be shaved down to the skin. Once she was, we discovered a soft, round lady who has clearly been well-fed. She leans into our touch without much hesitation, and moves through rooms like she knows exactly how to exist beside people and other dogs without causing a ripple.
Batty has mastered the art of being both low-key and completely endearing at the same time. She is sweet, friendly, calm, and loving — the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be the loudest in the room to be your favorite. She simply settles in, makes herself comfortable, and before you know it, you’re rearranging your entire life so she can have optimal blanket access.
Batty is a professional relaxer with a soft spot for cozy setups and quiet companionship. She loves to be near her people, whether that means curling up next to you on the couch, snoozing at your feet, or tucking herself into a nest of blankets like a tiny, self-contained burrito. She enjoys attention and will politely request it when she’s in the mood, often pairing it with her signature bouncy little walk when she gets excited. It’s subtle, but very effective.
Batty is also an easy, go-with-the-flow kind of dog who would be perfect for someone looking for a companion who is equal parts low maintenance and absolutely adorable. She's housebroken, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, sleeps through the night, and can be trusted free-range when home alone. Batty gets along well with people and other dogs and would likely be happy either with a canine sibling or as your one and only, as long as she has humans nearby to love.
Batty would do best in a calm, quiet home with a fenced yard to explore, a predictable routine, and people who appreciate a dog who balances independence with affection. She enjoys walks, lounging, snacks, and occasionally chasing geese, which she takes very seriously. She also has strong opinions about food. She loves it, she will help herself if given the opportunity, and she does not care for bananas, which feels like a fair and reasonable boundary.
Batty is currently being treated for a short-term skin infection and taking medication, but otherwise is a healthy, easy-to-care-for little dog who handles grooming and general care without fuss. She may occasionally get into things like tissues or unattended snacks if they are within reach, but this is less a flaw and more a reflection of her initiative and resourcefulness.
If you think this very good girl would fit perfectly into your home, you're probably right! Apply today to meet her.
