Meet toner

Toner (Jack) is a very loving and gentle puppy overall. He’s especially sweet with his littermate (who is about half his size) and plays really well with a larger puppy that’s about twice his size. He loves to run, wrestle, and chase, he definitely has a playful, high-energy side and enjoys active playtime with other dogs. He also has a very cuddly side. When he’s tired, he loves to snuggle and will often sleep on his back. He absolutely loves having his belly rubbed and soaks up the attention. He’s very affectionate with people and enjoys giving kisses. He’s been gentle in all of his interactions. He truly thrives when he’s around other dogs. He loves playing with his littermate and our other dogs, and you can tell it helps him feel comfortable and secure. He often seeks them out to cuddle and relax, and I think he would do really well in a home with another dog or puppy.

Personality wise, he can be a little stubborn/persistent once he decides he wants something. He’s still a puppy and learning, but he definitely has a determined streak. He’s very curious and loves being outside, he seems to think running all around the yard is the best thing ever. He is especially drawn to sticks/wood and will find any piece he can. He loves toys and bones and plays super hard. One of his favorite things is playing tug-of-war. He’s not very food/ treat driven, but he does eat well at mealtimes. Around other animals, he’s doing well. He hasn’t shown much interest in cats. He can get a little territorial over food with his smaller littermate, but it has never escalated into anything of concern. He’s started learning his nickname (Jack) and is responding to it. He doesn’t bark much, but when he does it’s a very high-pitched bark, almost more of a squeal and usually only happens when other dogs are barking. He doesn’t mind being brushed, which has been nice, but he absolutely hates bath time. He is still learning stairs. Overall, he’s a really sweet, playful, affectionate puppy.

Jack tends to seek out smaller, cozy spaces when he’s ready to settle down. He especially likes sleeping between two couches, or any place he can make himself a little den. During the day, he’s pretty flexible and will nap just about anywhere. At night, he sleeps in a playpen in the bedroom with his littermate. As long as he’s had plenty of playtime and is tired out before bed, he does really well and will sleep about 6–8 hours. He sleeps in the playpen with a puppy pad connected to the kennel (without a door) which is covered by a blanket and he really likes sleeping in there. It seems to give him that enclosed, secure feeling. He’s not too picky about where he sleeps, he’s comfortable on a dog bed or even the wood floor. One cute thing he does is lay completely flat when he sleeps, with his back legs stretched out behind him and his front paws straight out in front. He’s uses puppy pads and outside with a few accidents.

Jack does have occasional wheezing fits. They don’t seem to be triggered specifically by activity, they can come on at random. When it happens, it doesn’t appear to significantly impact him. He may pause for a minute or two, but then goes right back to what he was doing and acts completely normal afterward.

He is good with other dogs, cats, small animals, children, and cars. He’s just the sweetest most loving boy! He’s going to make the best family dog!

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
