MEET CHULOO!

At just around 8 lbs. and 11 years young, Chuloo (or Chu Chu for short) is a tiny dog with a huge personality! This spunky Chihuahua mix was surrendered to City of Elderly Love when his person could no longer keep him due to housing issues. Chuloo has been working hard on his glow-up since joining the rescue and what a transformation it’s been!

When Chuloo first arrived to the rescue, he was understandably pretty.. spicy. He was going through a lot of change and not feeling the best which left him stressed and grumpy. With painful, severely rotten teeth, he wasn’t feeling his best and took some time to trust. After an incredible dental procedure where he had 31 teeth removed, Chuloo is now feeling like a brand-new dog: comfortable, happy, and ready to enjoy life.

Chuloo is full of classic Chihuahua charm: he’s goofy, sassy, and absolutely devoted to his person. As is common with the breed, Chuloo picks his favorite person/people and can be untrusting of new people. He may growl and nip when he feels scared or threatened. While strangers aren’t really his thing, once you’re in Chuloo’s inner circle, you’ll have a loyal shadow for life. He adores cuddles, scritches, and being as close to his human as possible. Chuloo is currently in foster care with another dog and is doing well being introduced to them. Chuloo has lived with children in the past but he’s a sensitive dog who would benefit from a confident handler who can help him build his own confidence so we think a home without small kids is best.

Chuloo’s daily joys include leisurely walks where he can sniff everything, cozy naps, and showing off his hilarious personality. Speaking of which, some of his signature moves include: chasing his own tail while letting out tiny, dramatic growls when he’s excited, playing with his toys like a pup half his age, singing along when someone plays music (yes, really!), climbing on top of you when you’re lying down and proudly displaying his double chin (complete with his two remaining teeth adorably caught in his lip), and tucking himself into bed under his blankie like a tiny burrito.

Chuloo is mostly housetrained and sleeps soundly through the night, making him an easy companion in the home. He does tend to bark when left alone and will need some adjustment time to settle into his new surroundings and routine. He’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will respect his boundaries with new people and continue helping him feel safe and loved.
