Meet mance
We adopted Mance, then a young puppy, in 2019 from a shelter--he is now seven, well into his middle-age. Mance has been a wonderful pet--he is watchful, goofy, playful, and very loyal to his people. He is also quite afraid of the unfamiliar, which can translate into territoriality and protectiveness. For most of his life, he lived in a quiet setting with a set routine in which he flourished. When we moved to live with family in a much larger space with much more change, he became quite territorial, which translated into unexpected behavioral problems. We believe that a quiet, stable, and routine-driven household would be ideal for him. He gets along great with other dogs, both male and female, and he has been habituated to cats before. He is generally wary around children, particularly those who are loud and unpredictable. In the right setting Mance is perfect for someone who wants an affectionate, medium active, and larger companion, and who has experience owning a higher needs dog.
