Meet maya
Maya is a rescue, but we got her as a puppy, maybe 7 weeks old, and we had her genetically tested. She is 100% Boerboel.
We have owned several Boerboel mastiffs, so we thought she would fit in well with our two other Boerboels. And she has...most of the time.
Maya is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever owned, both gentle and playful. She is great with kids!
Unfortunately, we have had 5 instances in the past year where she has "flipped", unprovoked, and attached our other female mastiff.
She is very strong, so this has been incredibly frightening. Then she "flips" back as if nothing has happened, goes right back to playing and cuddling with her sister.
Unfortunately, my husband was injured trying to break up the most recent attack. We cannot in good conscience risk her injuring another member of our family.
I believe she would do very well as an only dog. She even gets along well with our cat!
I love Maya so much, and she will be a very loving companion in another home.
