Hi, I'm Maggie! I'm timid, sweet, and can sit like a meerkat and stand on my back legs. I lost a leg last month and life has been rough, but I am quickly regaining strength and confidence in foster care. I would prefer a quiet household where one person is usually home. I do not like to be alone. I am a low energy pet. House trained - I have had some accidents due to fear. If something scares me, I will go back inside without pottying and you should try again soon. This has improved but you should watch me, especially during the first couple breaks of the day. Crate trained - I sleep in the crate at night, and might nap there during the day while my foster is doing chores. I hide in the crate sometimes. Very human focused - I like to be near my foster and do not like when she leaves the house. It's better not to lock my crate, it makes me more upset. Social eater - I want to eat my kibble in 3 meals and eat with you! Leash - I do not seem to have been on a leash often, but I can learn. I stay out from under foot, do not get in trash, beg for human food, or lick mugs left on the coffee table. I love: Belly rubs! Rolling in the yard - I ask to go outside just to enjoy a nice day. Soft treats Pillow forts - I like any spot where I can snuggle in and feel safe.I don't like: Other dogs - I am scared of the neighbor dogs. I have started barking at them instead of immediately fleeing into the house. The robot vacuum - though I've learned it isn't really chasing me and I can avoid it. Physical progress: I have started being able to run a little in the yard. Can easily do 3-4 steps to get in and out of the house, not interested in the full flight to go upstairs. Occasionally clumsy, especially in the morning - I have a rug in front of my crate so I have an easier walking surface to access it and my water dish. Raised bowls - foster has my bowls sitting on cottage cheese containers to make them more comfortable to reach. Dog stairs - I am good about using them to get up on furniture but still jumping down.I am currently in foster care.
