MEET DESTIN! - I am in a foster home, come visit me in the shelter Thursday 4/2 through Sunday 4/5!Hi, I`m Destin! I`m a 13-week old Labrador Retriever mix and I`m a gentle soul with many layers to my personality. Three words that currently describe me: shy, earnest, goofy. Upon first meeting, I may present as a bit reserved and hesitant as you take in my beautifully colored coat that resembles the sands of my namesake city in Florida, but that`s only because we just met. I love a good treat and one of the ways to my heart (and trust) is food. With some time and patience, I will be eating out of your hand, literally. My favorite hobbies include: licking treat pads; chewing on my collagen sticks; and pouncing around with my favorite toys in an environment in which I feel safe. I also love my snuggle puppy because the warmth reminds me of my littermates. My dream home would be: a household with a calm and confident dog to show me the ropes (especially with potty business outside), loving and experienced humans committed to putting in some extra time and dedication to coach me to reach my full potential as your most loyal companion. Have a fully enclosed backyard? Perfect! I need a secure space with supervision to get out my puppy zoomies and get in my daily steps. While I`m adding to the list, I love, love, love my crate for open-door snoozies as it`s my happy place. I am curious about my 10 year old dog-savvy human foster brother. I would probably do well with older kiddos who understand and respect my boundaries (it’s a hard pass on small hands in my space and unpredictable movements). Kitty cats are unknown.My world has changed a lot in the last few weeks (transport up from the South, saying goodbye to my littermates, moving in with a foster) and understandably all the new people and situations can be overwhelming at first. If you give me a chance to feel safe on my own terms and timeline, I will show you more of my layers.
