Introducing Smokey- the wobbly little lovebug with a heart of gold !  Smokey is a gentle, low energy  boy with a heart that’s all love. He has a probable  injury  that gives him a wobbly gait  and prevents him from climbing stairs , but it doesn’t stop him from following his people from room to room  and making your lap his  favorite  destination . His greatest joy is simply being near the humans he adores. Smokey is wonderful with kids  who understand  his  need for gentle hands  and  thrives  in a calm, predictable home. He doesn’t need daily walks — just a safe yard  with flat areas  or indoor space where he can toddle around at his own pace. What he does need  is companionship. He’s happiest when someone is home with him, making him a perfect match for a work from home  adopter or a retired family member. He’s incredibly food motivated , eager to please, and full of quiet affection. Smokey isn’t looking for adventure; he’s looking for belonging. If you want a loyal, gentle companion who will love you with his whole wobbly self, Smokey is waiting  for you!    We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. October 5, 2026, 2:45 pm
