🤎🌴Meet Stanley, a “Sato dog” from Puerto Rico! A “Sato dog” refers to the mixed breed, stray dogs on the island. (Majority are small-medium size but some can be larger). Island dogs are smart, loyal, highly trainable, and thrive on routines and consistency. They have wonderful demeanors, make devoted companions, adjust well to their environments, and are a perfect mix of energetic and affectionate. There is no love like the love of an island dog.

Stanley was found all alone on Punta Santiago beach in PR. He holds a friendly and gentle soul with an affectionate disposition. Many things are new to him and he can be a bit timid with sudden movements and looks for reassurance. He has been brave exploring his surroundings but needs to take things at his own pace. Once he feels safe, his loving personality shines bright. He is happy, learning how to play, and loves toys. Stanley has been around dogs, cats, and kids, and has done wonderful. We see no issues with continued proper, slow introduction/respect. When Stanley arrives to PA, he will share his foster home with four dogs, (one being a Sato) two cats, and other foster dog friends. He will continue to learn all the ropes, day/night time routines, and be set up for success. Stanley will continue to/need continued work on puppy-training concepts including: Basic leash training, potty, crate, socialization, etc. We are excited to see his confidence grow with provided love, patience, guidance, understanding, and time. (Mom and Dad are unknown). Stay tuned! 😊
