WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Adelaide will do best in a home that can keep her active and engaged, where she can burn off her energy and show off her playful, adventurous spirit. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help her grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Cortina has an incredibly sweet and loving personality. She adores cuddling and being close to her people, always ready to curl up next to you for some affection and comfort. At the same time, she is very curious about the world around her, always sniffing, exploring, and investigating new sights and sounds. With patience and structure, she will continue to make great progress.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Cortina were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so.
