Tonya is a fun loving and outgoing girl. She has never met a stranger, everyone is her new friend. She does well with male or female dogs. She loves to play fetch. She was a breeding dog her entire life until now and she is past ready to be a pet.

Tonya is going to make someone a wonderful companion. She is extremely affectionate and actively seeks attention. She appears very people-oriented and lights up when engaged.



Play & Motivation:

She is highly ball-motivated and loves playing fetch. While she is not treat-motivated, she will eagerly retrieve and return the ball repeatedly. She hasn’t fully mastered “drop it” but reliably brings the ball back and allows you to take it from her without resistance.



Temperament:

I did not observe any signs of aggression or fear during my time with her. She appeared comfortable around men, women, loud noises, and other dogs in the vicinity. Staff report that she is generally quiet and does not bark much.



Handling & Socialization:

She tolerated full-body handling very well and seemed to enjoy being touched and petted. No sensitivity noted during physical contact.



Resource Guarding:

No resource guarding was observed. She allowed removal of the ball from her mouth without issue and showed no guarding behaviors around toys, space, or people during my assessment.



Leash Skills:

She walks reasonably well on leash but does pull and would benefit from continued leash training. I was not able to get her to respond to basic cues (sit, stay, down, etc.), which suggests she likely hasn’t had formal training.



Placement Considerations:

Tonya is a large, strong dog and may unintentionally knock over small children. She would likely thrive in a home with a yard and someone who enjoys interactive play.



Overall, she presents as a very sweet, trusting, affectionate dog who would do well in an active home where she receives attention and regular playtime.
