Meet mclovin'

Meet McLovin!

At just 1 year old and 10 pounds, McLovin has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. He was part of a large-scale animal neglect case in Detroit, where he lived among more than 40 other Yorkies. While he never received the individual attention and care every dog deserves, his spirit remains incredibly gentle and loving. Despite his past, McLovin is a *happy boy* with so much love to give.

McLovin thrives on attention and soaks up affection from his people. He is food and treat motivated, which will be a wonderful asset as he continues learning house manners and building confidence. While he hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, that may simply be because he’s never really had the chance to explore play in a normal home environment.

McLovin is good with other dogs and would especially benefit from a social, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes and reassure him as he adjusts. He has displayed no issues with cats and would seemingly do well with dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog.

McLovin is looking for a family truly dedicated to giving him the structure, patience, and love he has missed out on.

Because of his previous living conditions:

He has no experience with leash walks — realistically, no one was walking 40 dogs or ensuring they all had consistent outdoor time.
He will require a physically fenced yard to help prevent continued struggles with accidents and to safely build his confidence outside.
He is working on crate training and will need consistency to promote good house manners.
He will require regular professional grooming, as is typical for the Yorkie breed.

Most importantly, he needs a home committed to maintaining a predictable routine. Structure and consistency will help him feel safe and set him up for long-term success.

McLovin is seeking a forever family who will cherish him, advocate for him, and ensure he never again goes without love or proper care. With patience, guidance, and a warm lap to call his own, he will blossom into an incredibly devoted companion.

He’s ready to leave his past behind and start the beautiful life he has always deserved.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
