Meet mamacita
MAMACITA AND HER BABIES WILL BE AT A MEET AND GREET/ADOPTION EVENT SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 21 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION AT 1074 GRAND AVENUE IN SAINT PAUL. COME FOR CUDDLES, AND MAYBE FIND A FRIEND FOR LIFE.
Mamacita, AKA Lafond, is a sweet little Shih Tzu mix mommy dog with quite the history. When ICE came to Minnesota this little girl’s people disappeared. A Good Samaritan took her in from the cold and on January 1 she gave birth to 6 puppies. Shortly thereafter she and the puppies were surrendered to PUP. A reporter from the Pioneer Press learned about her story and the paper ran a long article about her and similar animals in crisis because of ICE on January 25.
Our nearly famous Mamacita weighs just over 11# and is as sweet and affectionate as can be. Her favorite place to be is on a person’s lap. She likes everyone. Though tiny, she is athletic. We did DNA testing and she is Shih Tzu 33%; Cocker Spaniel 13%; French Bulldog 3%; and Pekingese 1%. Her coat is still a bit thin from her mommy duties, and probably her time being homeless, but it is getting thicker and more luxurious.
The vet aged Mamacita at 1.5 years. She has lived with cats and other dogs. We think she is house broken but things have fallen apart a bit during her mommy duties. She does know to poop and pee outside but with all she eats and drinks as part of caring for 6 growing puppies, sometimes she just can’t hold it.
If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a dog, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a dog. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. PUP will pay for her required spay if it is done by our vet and we expect that to be done about a month after she stops nursing her pups. She can be seen and selected now but cannot go to her new home until her puppies are all adopted. We do place dogs outside the metro area if a solid plan is in place for her spay. We do not ship.
