Meet nyx

Meet Nyx — a 40-pound bundle of wiggles, curiosity, and pure snuggle energy. He may have arrived at BARCS a little nervous, but in just a few short days in foster, he’s already showing what a loving, smart, and people-focused boy he is.Nyx is, at his core, a total Velcro dog. If you move, he moves. If you sit, he’s right there beside you (or on you). Snuggling is his absolute favorite activity, closely followed by belly rubs, chewing on his Kong, and chasing his ball. He forms bonds quickly and clearly adores his humans. He’s already learned “sit” and is very treat motivated, which makes him eager and fun to train. He’s curious about everything — sometimes a little too curious! If you’re carrying something, he may assume it’s for him and try to investigate (yes, even a laptop). He’s still learning what’s his and what isn’t, but he takes redirection well and is excited to learn.Nyx is settling nicely into a routine. After a couple of early accidents while adjusting, he’s already had accident-free days and is catching on quickly. He sleeps through the night in his crate and, while he may take a few minutes to settle, he relaxes and naps well once he’s in. During the day, he has bursts of big, playful energy followed by content couch time chewing his toys.On leash, Nyx is enthusiastic and strong — he pulls and is very interested in checking out the world (and the people in it). When he sees someone, he’s excited and wants to say hello, but he hasn’t shown reactivity. He’ll benefit from continued leash training and guidance to help channel that excitement into polite walking skills. When greeting his people after even a short absence, Nyx can get very excited — running up quickly and occasionally jumping or getting a little mouthy in his enthusiasm. It’s all joyful energy, not malice, but he’ll need adopters committed to helping him practice calm greetings and good manners. He’s smart enough to get there. At the shelter, Nyx met other dogs and does best with gentle, polite canine friends. With the right match and proper introductions, he could enjoy a dog companion who fits his style.Nyx is still adjusting to his new surroundings, but we’ve already seen him blossom. He’s affectionate, playful, bright, and deeply people-oriented. With structure, continued training, and lots of love, he has all the makings of an incredible companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, wiggly shadow who wants to learn, explore, and
