Axel is a lovable, curly-coated goofball with a big personality and an even bigger love for his people. This high-energy boy thrives on attention, play, and adventure, and he’s happiest when he’s right by his humans’ side.

● Very people-focused and affectionate — a true hugger who loves human attention
● Playful and energetic; turns just about anything into a toy
● Gets especially excited about toys and bones and loves to run off to enjoy them
● Smart and eager to learn — already knows “sit” and responds to a whistle or “Buddy”
● Walks on leash and is building confidence every day
● Slept well in his crate overnight after settling in
● Enjoys dog friends and can play nicely with them
Things to know:
● Axel is still decompressing and can be a bit nervous in new environments
● High energy and benefits from plenty of exercise and enrichment
● Can be protective of toys or food and will need continued guidance and structure
● May feel overwhelmed by loud or chaotic dog environments
● Still building confidence outdoors and on leash

Axel is a bright, spirited pup who just needs time, patience, and an active home to help him channel all that energy into fun and learning. With the right family, he’ll be a loyal adventure partner and affectionate best friend. 💛🐶

Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) Adoption Process
- Complete our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey to expedite the process and arrange a meet-and-greet. Expect a response within about a week; please check your spam folder. As we're 100% volunteer-run, your patience is appreciated!

Requirements And Donations
- Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS).
- Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
- Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies.
- Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.

Location And Hours
- Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 11 AM-3 PM; Sunday 11 AM-1 PM.
