Loyal, charming, and an absolute blast to be around - it's Lela!

Lela is a fun dog and she knows how to live life to the fullest. Walks? Nothing makes her happier! She's up for hike in the woods, beach trips, or even just a quick trip exploring the neighborhood. She's great in the car and longer rides to find new adventures sound good to her. Lela loves her toys - small stuffies are the best - and after a good came of fetch or tug of war, Lela will be carrying her stuffy around looking for a sneaky place to hide it for later. Don't be surprised if after adopting Lela you find hidden treasures every time you clean the house - perhaps a bone buried in the couch cushions, a stuffed animal tucked neatly behind a chair, or a tennis ball hidden beneath the blankets in her bed. Lela keeps things fun and unexpected and that's why we love her so much. Lela is a moderate energy dog and she thrives with daily walks and training, but after she gets her zoomies out she'll be ready to chill and snuggle the day away. Lela gives kisses and is sure to make sure her family know just how much she loves them. As a bonus, she makes a wonderful office companion if you work from home - at the moment this bio is being written she is fast asleep beneath my desk after a lazy game of fetch.

As to what Lela is looking for in a family, she would thrive in single dog home with a person or people who love her and are willing to meet her where she is at. Lela did not receive much socialization with new dogs in her previous home and, though she grew up with another dog and had a litter of puppies, she is unsure how to appropriately handle greeting new dogs. Lela was not dog reactive when she first arrived at PARL but unfortunately due to several months of higher stress levels and a noisy environment, Lela does now tend to fixate on or bark at dogs she sees. She is in training and already making progress - Lela is smart, learns quickly, and motivated by food and play which makes training easy! With decompression time in a home environment and continued training, we are sure Lela will amaze everyone with how she learns to manage her high emotions. Currently, Lela would do best in a single dog home but there is potential for introductions to new dogs in the future if she continues to progress and learn social skills.
