Meet bennie
URGENT- must surrender to shelter if not rehomed by 2/13/26. I'm looking for the right long-term home for Bennie, a senior lab/pit mix I've fostered since November. This difficult decision is necessary as Bennie's bonded very strongly to me, and that attachment has led to protective behaviors that aren't safe in my household. He growls when I hug my parents and has had tense, alpha-style scuffles (no injuries) with my younger, high-energy dog. With a homebound disabled parent, I can't risk escalation. He does fine with my calm senior dog. Bennie's neutered, housebroken, and has excellent manners inside and out. He walks beautifully on a leash, even in stores and loves the head pats from strangers. He's a great alert dog who notices outside activity but does not approach delivery drivers and prefers staying close to his person. He would do best as a companion to a single older/retired adult who is home much of the day and/or has a fenced yard or dog door so he doesn't feel trapped.
