Meet Rip Ranger - a 14 month old, Shepherd mix, who weighs about 36 pounds (as of 1/15/25). This sweet boy has had a tough life. He was found as a stray with his siblings in Mississippi and have spent their youth growing up at the local vet clinic. It's time for them to find their forever families and start their next chapter!
Rip loves his brother Harry, and gets along beautifully with our resident dogs as well. He is toy, treat and pat motivated! When we first got him everything was scary (leashes, TV, chairs sliding out) and new to him, but he has come such a long way in just a couple of weeks. He is no longer barking at the TV, hops up on the couch for a cuddle, and comes back in the house when called. However, because these boys haven't lived with families before they are much like puppies in the sense they get into everything and need constant supervision. He is housebroken and we have been crate training him, but it's still not his favorite place to be. Rip would do best in a home with a resident dog to help him feel comfortable because he is still the more timid of the two (or even with his brother Harry 🥰).
The RANGER pups love their playtime in the yard, and would really thrive in homes where they could explore and play! They have never known what it means to have a toy and be loved by a family. The vet techs have given them lots of love and they are the only family they’ve ever known. They are sweet natured, playful and are great with people and ready to find their forever homes!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
