Marty is a 3ish year old male Golden (about 50 lbs) who has been seen roaming around a rural KY county recently as a stray. A Good Samaritan spotted him and realized he had a wound on his side. He was in grave condition on admission to GRRAND and that large open wound on his left side turned out to be a gunshot wound and that is not what we suspected it was going to be!The vet found there was shrapnel in the infected wound. He’s been at MVSES since Fri (Jan 23) night. He is undergoing daily wound debridement and dressing changes, receiving IV fluids and antibiotics, pain meds and the best care possible. He will continue to need daily dressing changes, pain meds and antibiotics as the wound heals. Marty's appetite has been poor so he will need a lot of love and extra care over the coming weeks to support his recovery.  (Last report was he is not eating and refusing meds so continuing IV fluids and antibiotics and he is being sedated for drug changes.). Tuesday he will be transferring to Elk Creek Fisherville for management of his care temporarily as we do not have a medical foster to care for him just yet... UNLESS IT'S YOU!!! Could YOU open your heart and home to this sweet deserving boy so he does not have to recover in a kennel? There will be wound cleaning, wound packing, wrapping and trips to the vet. He is a very sweet and beautiful boy. He was very calm and allowed much inspection of his horrible injury, without any complaining.His recovery will be long as that open wound has to fill in and slowly heal, so his family will need to be patient and have the time to give him all of the loving care he needs. Can you help?
