Meet spike

Meet Spike — or as his foster lovingly calls him, “Tater,” thanks to his perfect tater-tot coloring and adorably oversized Mr. Potato Head proportions. This 2-year-old, 57-pound bundle of joy is basically 110% happiness wrapped in a wiggly, snuggly body.Spike is the kind of dog you hear before you see — not because he’s barking, but because his tail is thwacking against walls in pure delight. He is truly one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet.In his foster home, Spike has been a housetraining rockstar with no accidents as long as his routine is maintained. When left alone, he settles beautifully with a little basic puppy-proofing. No barking, whining, or separation anxiety — he’ll happily snooze on the sofa or dog bed until you return. (Just maybe don’t leave takeout containers within reach unless you’re feeling generous.)He’s medium-to-high energy and thrives with activity. He recently joined his foster for a 1.5-mile run (not quite marathon material, but he gave it his all!), visited a brewery where he charmed every human he met without jumping, and even went camping and cross-country skiing — where he proved himself to be a proper little snow dog. On a long line, he showed fantastic recall, sprinting back happily when called. Adventurous and outdoorsy? Absolutely. At the end of the day, though, he just wants to curl up right next to you.Spike LOVES tug, chew toys, and interactive play. If he doesn’t get enough physical or mental enrichment, he’ll start inventing his own “projects,” so an active home that enjoys engaging with their dog will be ideal. He currently lives with a resident dog and very much embraces the “annoying little brother” role. He adores having another dog around — constantly trying to play, snuggle, and share beds. He’s learning that playtime doesn’t have to be 24/7 and is getting better at coexisting calmly. He would likely do well with a tolerant, playful canine companion after a proper meet-and-greet.On leash, Spike walks nicely on an easy-walk harness and rarely pulls unless he spots another dog he’s excited to meet. His pulling is largely enthusiastic “LET ME SAY HI!” energy. His foster is actively working on redirecting him, and he’s making progress. Outside of those surprise moments, he’s just a social guy who wants friends. With people? Instant best friend. He loves meeting strangers on walks and when guests come over, and he’s respectful — no jumping, just wiggly adorat
