Meet Smudge!  This beautiful guy with an unusual merle coat came to us from @bostonanimalcontrol after being bounced around from home to home at such a young age.  Smudge is a mellow sweetheart with the softest soul and the most expressive puppy-dog eyes you’ve ever seen. He’s low to moderate energy overall, happiest lounging near his people, with occasional short bursts of playful zoomies when the mood strikes. He enjoys leisurely leash walks, exploring fields and woods on a long lead, and romping around the yard. Bonus points if there’s snow involved because Smudge loves the snow! This gentle boy is still learning the ropes of being a puparoo and is working on house training, but he’s eager to learn. He does best with frequent potty breaks and a patient, consistent routine. Smudge does not pull on walks but he would love to help hold the leash!   Inside, he has free rein of the house prefers the living room, where he can keep an eye on his people. At night, he sleeps comfortably in his crate with a cozy dog bed nearby. Smudge is polite, calm, and friendly when he sees other dogs and meets new people.   New or loud sounds can startle him at first, but with reassurance he settles quickly and continues to build confidence every day. He’s a bit of a talker too, “arguing” with adorable whines and even howling in his sleep from time to time. Add in his lopsided ears that perk forward when he’s curious, and you’ve got one charming little guy. Smudge would thrive in a home ready to guide him through the basics with patience and kindness, help him feel safe with new experiences, and ideally offer a yard or access to nature for exploring. He’s the perfect mix of independent play and wanting to be close to his people — a quiet companion who just wants to belong. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving pup that'll leave a smudge on your heart, we've got the guy for you!   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.www.pittieloverescue.org Please consider a donation so that we may continue the important work we do.
