Trudy is a beautiful redtick coonhound who was rescued several months ago from life on a chain in West Virginia. Her Massachusetts fosters report that Trudy is a sweetheart. She is very gentle and well-behaved. She does not counter surf and sits patiently on her favorite area rugs throughout the house for meals/outside time. She is not a big jumper and would probably do well with children. While Trudy wasn't a huge fan of the cold and snow, she made the best of this long winter, discovering some holes in the snow in the backyard where animals have burrowed and rooting them out! She loves the backyard, finding a favorite spot on the back deck or on the grass to lounge in the sun. She is housebroken and is getting used to spending longer periods of time in her crate while her fosters work/run errands. Trudy doesn't mind the car and enjoys drives with her people going on field trips, especially to the beach and the dog park, where she mostly sniffs. She enjoys playing with other dogs for short bursts while at the dog park, but then goes back to doing what she loves - sniffing and checking in with her people. Trudy will stand up for herself if another dog is overly dominant. For this reason, she may do best as an only dog. Trudy really likes to be with her people and is most content when she is with - or can at least see her fosters. She loves to snuggle on the sofa and is a fantastic companion. She barks/bays infrequently and does not bother the family during mealtime, and will go into her crate on her own to chew on a toy or have some quiet time. She sleeps (snoring softly) through the night on her own bed near the family. Trudy would be happiest in a home where someone is there a lot. She is an amazing girl and would make a single person, a couple, or a family very, very happy. Trudy is 4 - 5 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. Trudy is available for visits north of Boston and would love to meet you!

About our rescue
We are a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in foster homes throughout the area or in some cases in the south waiting to be transported north. We do not have a physical shelter. However, meet and greets are set up for approved applicants.

Once the phone interview is completed, we will check your vet reference as well as a personal reference and conduct a home visit.
