Medical Needs: Polly has her HW treatment scheduled in Milford (1/19 and 1/20 at 2:15pm). Keeping these appointments is a non-negotiable part of her adoption.

Housebroken: yes, when kept on a schedule she does great.

Crate trained: she will hop into her crate with some motivation (food… the motivation is always food) and spend her time there without a peep, happily napping on her fluffy blanket or chewing on her bone. The only time she makes noise is when she’s gotta potty or when she hears you’re home from work. She is good in the crate for 6 hours without an accident, but cannot go for longer periods without consistency.  We recommend crating Polly when you cannot directly supervise her (even a quick run to the store). She thinks anything remotely edible is food: … ANYTHING… and will try to eat it if not being watched closely.

Good in the car: yes, but we would suggest a seatbelt/harness because she thinks she’s a lap dog

Good on a leash: she does ok, she really is more of a “pee/poop and then run inside because that’s where food is” type of girl. She will also have to pause any long walks until HW treatment has been completed in full.

Energy level: medium-high

Need a fenced in yard: no, as long as you’re ok with her trying to run sideways laps in your house

Dog Friendly: yes, absolutely. However she thinks any and all toys are HERS so we keep playtimes toy-free and the toys stay in her crate.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Nope

Cat Friendly: yes, she mostly ignores them. Every now and then she tries to play with them

Kid Friendly: yes

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Young teen or older. Due to Polly being VERY skinny on intake, she will grab treats with a quickness. Sometimes not waiting for fingers to get out of the way. Toddlers or young kids that walk around with snacks in their little fingers are at risk of getting chomped accidentally.

Polly doesn’t aim for hands, and all she wants is snacks. But she’s still far from being gentle about getting them.

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them:  Polly Pocket was picked up as a stray and weighed less than 25 pounds. She was a shrinking skeleton, but that didn’t diminish her happy wiggly spirit! Polly is happy 24/7 and keeping her on crate rest/restricted exercise because of her HW+ is a challenge but well worth it.  She reminds us of Slinky from Toy Story: front end going the way it’s supposed to, back end going… well, no-one knows where. This doesn’t slow her down in the SLIGHTEST!  She also doesn’t slow down when she takes snacks. We give her treats like you would a horse (open hand, palm towards the mouth) because she’s still learning that food will never go away… and fingers can get hurt .  Once she’s done wiggling her way around the house she likes to curl up next to her foster people, and insists on always being close enough to touch them.
