Meet beacon

Beacon is a six year old Shih Tzu. Beacon is a sweet boy. He is slowly learning to trust people and understand that he can relax and enjoy being a dog. He is not at all aggressive, just a little jumpy if you move too quickly around him. He will let you hold him and he has been so good and patient with meds and baths. He does not understand ‘outside’ or what dogs do outside but he is slowly working on that. He enjoys listening to white noise and nature sounds to help him relax and has even enjoyed watching some football on TV! Beacon would be a great companion for a calm household with lots of love to give.

He currently sleeps on a blanket in a large bathroom. He sleeps through most nights with white noise playing. He also naps during the day. He is afraid of the the great outdoors, but is working on it. He’s really good about using potty pads inside and seems to like to wait to do it when you are there if possible. He is a bit nervous if you move too quickly around him but he is getting more comfortable by the day. He demonstrates no aggression at all. He hasn’t barked at cats or teenagers. He rides well in a car.

Beacon is a cute, sweet little guy who is being so brave in this new chapter in his life.

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
