Meet walter
We adopted Walter from a shelter in 2021. They told us he was a year old, so he'll be 6 this year, although we have no idea when his birthday would be. He is a reactive dog. He growls/barks/etc. because he is scared of people. He was like this when we adopted him, which wasn't an issue because it was just us. We slowly earned his trust. We have had two children since then, and we are worried he might bite one of them because they do not understand not to bother him.
His ideal owner would be a single person or a couple that is willing to get to know him and earn his trust, or someone who has experience with reactive dogs. We were told we should put him down. They called it behavioral euthanasia. He doesn't deserve that. He's never bitten anyone, but that's largely due to us being careful and lessening his triggers. He's not aggressive, he just takes time to warm up and he needs socialization. He needs an understanding owner that does not have young children.
