Meet Bronco, a gentle soul with a soft heart and so much potential. This sensitive, affectionate boy thrives with a kind, patient adopter who can help him continue building confidence and feeling safe in the world. When Bronco feels secure, his sweet personality truly shines.Affectionately known as “Bolo,” Bronco is deeply devoted to his person. He is happiest right next to you on the couch, soaking up quiet, cozy moments. At 58 pounds, he’s the perfect size for snuggles, and he absolutely loves being close. When he’s feeling extra affectionate, he may gently “corn cob” (a soft nibble with his front teeth) as his unique little love language. It’s incredibly gentle and very endearing.Bronco is fully house-trained and keeps a solid routine when someone is home. He is very clean indoors and reliably lets you know when he needs to go out. Bronco does experience some anxiety when left alone and will bark or scratch at the door if no one is home. His foster has paused longer absences and is working on training to help him build comfort and confidence with short departures. Because of this, Bronco would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time and committed to continuing his confidence-building work.On leash, Bronco generally walks nicely in calm environments. He may become distracted by exciting smells or environmental stimuli but responds well to verbal guidance and redirection. Around unfamiliar people, he can be alert and may bark at first. However, once he sees that his person is comfortable and introductions are calm and structured, he relaxes and approaches in a friendly way. He’s continuing to build confidence with strangers and is making steady progress.Other dogs can excite him on walks, and he may pull to investigate. Small animals strongly capture his attention and he often tries to chase them, so attentive handling is important. With consistent training, his leash skills continue to improve, and he is becoming more responsive every day.Bronco is very food motivated and knows “sit,” and he’s learning “drop.” He enjoys tug toys and squeaky toys, and since adjusting his medication, he’s been more active and engaged while still able to settle and relax. His energy level feels balanced and appropriate — playful when it’s time for fun, and calm when it’s time to unwind.He recently joined his foster on outings to Petco and the MICA campus, where he was curious, engaged, and interested in his
