Meet CookieCookie is a sweet, sensitive girl who is looking for a quiet and understanding home to call her own. She came to us through no fault of her own when her family`s landlord no longer allowed pets. Cookie lived with her family since she was a puppy. Cookie has a history of house training, loved to snuggle, and loved to play, easily keeping herself entertained with toys. Once she feels safe, she truly believes she is a lap dog.Cookie can be shy and fearful with new people and new environments. When she is uncomfortable, she may try to avoid interaction or show clear signs that she needs space. Because of this, Cookie is looking for a patient adopter who understands dog body language, will advocate for her needs and is committed to helping her feel safe and comfortable as she settles in. Cookie has shown that she is uncomfortable around other dogs, and would perfer to be the only dog in the home. She will need an adopter who is committed to avoiding dog-heavy environments and providing on-leash walks or access to private fenced in spaces instead. A quieter neighborhood will help her feel more at ease.In her previous home, Cookie did well living with a cat and could be successful again with slow, thoughtful introductions. She may also do well in a home with kids who can help provide structure and training support as she continues to learn, as well as practice petting consent to not overwhelm her as she settles in. With time, consistency, and positive reinforcement, cookie has the potential to blossom into a deeply loving, affectionate companion.
