Leo is being fostered in St Louis, MO area.

Are you looking for man's best friend?  Leo is YOUR boy!  Leo was surrendered to rescue due to failing health of his former (elderly) owner.  Leo and his owner lived harmoniously for several years.  Leo is a GORGEOUS black tri male aussie that is almost 4 years old and currently weighs about 60-65 lbs. 

Leo is wonderful with humans, meeting and greeting appropriately to say hello.  He does fantastic with other dogs and lives with another female and male aussie in his foster home. Leo has great recall (once bonded). Leo has not being exposed to small children and we also believe his prey drive for squirrels and cats would mean he cannot live safely with furry felines or other small creatures.

The downside to living solely with his prior owner is that Leo does not seem to have been given any prior rules or guidance.  Therefore, Leo has had to adjust his lifestyle since coming into rescue. Leo has done remarkable with the positive reinforcement training.  While Leo may give out some vocalization about it, he is learning some nice skills with re-direction using treats and his favorite toy - ones that squeak. 

Leo is crate trained and house trained. Leo is great walking on and off-leash. Leo would do best with an experienced aussie adopter and we feel that he prefers a male adopter.  His adopter must be willing to work with Leo's foster Dad on what training has been completed, what cues and commands work best and and how Leo responds to them.

Leo is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
