Daniel is a sweet, affectionate 9-month-old boy who is back on the search for his forever home through no fault of his own. Due to unexpected circumstances, his previous adopter was unable to keep him. This lovable pup thrives on attention and bonds deeply with his people. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people or dogs, but give him a few minutes and his true personality shines through—tail wagging, playful, and eager to interact. Like any teenage pup, Daniel has lots of energy, curiosity, and a touch of mischievous charm. He’s smart, learns quickly, and enjoys testing boundaries in that classic puppy way.

Daniel has already completed formal training and knows commands like sit and down, walks beautifully on a leash, and is fully house-trained with zero accidents. He sleeps soundly in his crate at night and has even done well being left out unsupervised for short periods. Naturally clumsy with the goofiest personality, Daniel will keep you laughing daily with his silly antics. He’s improving steadily with jumping when he’s excited—he just loves people that much—and is actively working on learning appropriate greetings. Unlike your typical loud, stubborn hound, Daniel isn’t stubborn or much of a barker at all! Instead, he makes adorable, cartoon-like “talking” noises and only barks when he truly needs to go outside. He doesn’t react to people walking by the house or when someone comes to the door.

Daniel rides well in the car—he may be a little apprehensive at first, but quickly settles in and stays calm. He’s been to the groomer multiple times for baths and nail trims and has done great each visit. At home, he even stands patiently while his paws are wiped after coming in from outside. He has no food or toy aggression and does well sharing space with other dogs. While he eats quickly and may try to sneak toward another dog’s bowl, he responds well to redirection and is learning good mealtime manners. Daniel is affectionate, goofy, gentle, and full of potential. With continued guidance and love, he’s going to be an absolutely incredible companion. This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason.

General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention
Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care.
