Coal is a handsome 3ā4-year-old Border Collie x Lab mix who found his way to us through animal control, so much of his past remains a mystery. What isnāt a mystery is the kind of dog he is nowāan incredibly sweet soul with a heart that clearly longs for human connection.
Coal absolutely craves affection and attention. He leans into love, seeks out people, and seems happiest just being close to someone who will give him gentle reassurance. At the same time, we suspect he may not have had a lot of hands-on guidance in his previous lifeāespecially when it comes to things like leash skills. Heās not difficult or resistant, just a bit unsure- anxious because he doesn't understand what's being asked of him. It's as if heās still learning what it means to be guided and supported by a person.
With patience, consistency, and kindness, Coal has so much potential to blossom. He would thrive in a home willing to help him build confidence, show him the ropes, and give him the affection heās clearly been missing.
