Denver is looking for his forever home! He is an adorable little guy with perfect freckled ears who absolutely loves food and walks. He has no aggression and seems to not have separation anxiety either. Denver is not a barker, but he can be a vocal guy and randomly makes little grunts and piggy noises, especially after he eats and when you give him ear rubs.
Denver loves to smell everything on walks, greet other dogs, and is very responsive to the leash (great on the leash). His silly side takes a couple weeks to come out, but then you’ll catch him playing with toys or having zoomies around the house or wrestling around in his bed. Denver enjoys cuddles but can be a bit timid to make it happen. He doesn’t love being picked up, but he allows it, and once you put him next to you he will snuggle in. He will sometimes even jump up to snuggle you himself! Denver is a low energy dog and loves his bed and is perfectly happy in his bed alone getting in his beauty naps. Denver sleeps through the night and is potty trained. He is the only small dog I have ever met who can hold his pee! He also doesn’t chew anything around the house except his toys! I usually crate him when I leave the house, but one time I forgot, and he was perfectly fine and didn’t do anything bad.
He is VERY food motivated and loves treats and a fun lick mat for some stimulation. We are still working on tricks - he finally knows his name and “come” and “go in your crate” but we are still working on sit and down. Denver’s confidence continues to grow. He loves meeting new people if they get down to his level and loves meeting other dogs. He is kid friendly and has been amazing with the kids he has met. He seems to do fine with cats but we have not fully tested it inside a home. Denver does need a slow introduction into a new home; his safe space is his bed and crate, and he will hide in there and cry at first but then will become comfortable and feel safe after a day or two. By the end of the first week, he will start to open up more, by the second week he will want to cuddle and have zoomies, and he will only get more confident from there!
He will need a kind and patient human who will show him love and who will trust that he will open up and keep becoming a more and more perfect boy!
