Gumbo’s Rant: The Chi/Terrier Mix Situation

“Alright. I’ve been patient.
I’ve been polite.
I’ve been laying here minding my business and eating crumbs off the floor.

BUT WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

These chi/terrier mixes have been posted for almost TWO WEEKS and people are acting like they can’t see them.
Sir.
Ma’am.
Friend with eyeballs.

These puppies are:
• Small
• Cute
• Portable
• The kind of dogs people usually lose their minds over

And yet… here they sit.
WITH ME.
Which is unacceptable.

Let me explain why you should choose one of them immediately:

Ridiculous but Accurate Reasons to Adopt Them:
• They are the perfect size to supervise you in the bathroom.
• They will judge your life choices silently but lovingly.
• They require approximately 4 square feet of couch space.
• They fit in sweaters. ALL sweaters.
• They will alert you to danger, squirrels, leaves, ghosts, and your neighbor blinking wrong.

Even Better Reasons They Should NOT Be at the Rescue With Me:
• I snore. Loudly. On purpose.
• I will teach them bad habits.
• I have already told them lies about how easy adulthood is.
• They are learning my sarcasm. This is dangerous.
• I am not a good role model. I eat trash.

These puppies were not meant to grow up behind rescue gates listening to me rant about humanity and steal food off the counter.
They were meant to be in homes.
On couches.
In laps.
Running households.

People should be going absolutely feral over them, and instead I’m watching them grow up next to my emotional baggage.

So if you’re out there “thinking about it,”
or “waiting for the right time,”
or “just looking”—

THESE ARE THE SIGN.

Adopt the tiny dogs.
Remove them from my influence.
Let them live good lives.

Because if they stay here much longer,
they’re going to turn into me.

And no one deserves that.”
