That brindle coat. Those amber eyes. That presence.

Balto is not looking for admiration.
He is looking for FOREVER — and we will choose carefully.
Look closer.
See his snout — slightly off kilter.
That healed on its own after blunt trauma while he was surviving on the streets.
No vet.
No comfort.
No pain meds.
Just survival.
Balto survived abuse.
He survived starvation.
He survived broken bones that healed without medical care.
He survived before rescue.
And heartbreakingly… he has had to survive after rescue, too.
Yes — he has been adopted and returned. Twice.
1 First return: inexperienced handler.
2 Second return: experienced handler carrying trauma from a prior dog.
Both times he lost his home.
Both times he came back to MAD Rescue.
Both times he had to start over.
So let us be clear — lovingly, but firmly:

While our mailing address is in Michigan, the majority of our dogs are not located in the state of Michigan. The physical location of each our our dogs is posted with the name of the pet in the title area.
For transport, if you reside within 4 hours of the pet's fostered location, please be prepared to pick the pet up. For further distances, there is limited transport assistance available, however the applicant will be required to drive no less than half of the total distance.
