Meet Diesel!

A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/Hound mix currently in Sebastopol, CA, whose essence is a loving heart wrapped in a handsome tricolor coat and topped with an irresistible desire to snuggle.

Diesel is a 60-pound bundle of loyalty and affection, the kind of dog who thrives on human contact and would happily spend his days curled up next to his favorite person. He tends to form a deep bond with one special human, becoming a devoted companion who’s never far from your side, and yes, he’ll often reach out a paw just to make sure you’re still there.

Playful and full of personality, Diesel enjoys all kinds of toys and activities, from romping around the yard to simply hanging out in a cozy corner with his family. He's especially fond of kids and has a sweet history of shadowing a three-year-old around like a furry little guardian angel! Because he sometimes plays with a bit of enthusiasm, a home with older children who understand dog boundaries would be a great match.

Diesel has lived peacefully with a mellow Labrador Retriever in the past, but he prefers calm canine companions who respect his space. He doesn’t appreciate having his personal space constantly invaded and has gotten into multiple altercations with the other dogs in his current home, no injuries, but enough stress that all dogs now have to be separated. These incidents haven’t changed his loving nature with people, but they’ve understandably made him a bit more timid around unfamiliar humans and unsure around other dogs who don’t respect his boundaries. Because of this, a solo-pup lifestyle or sharing space with another chill dog would be ideal.

He crates comfortably when left alone, is house-trained, microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. While he hasn’t had formal obedience training, he’s working on basic commands like “stay” and already knows “sit,” “lay,” and “no.” Diesel’s a quick learner who would benefit from positive reinforcement and a calm, consistent routine.
