Occasionally every foster mom gets a pet that they just want to keep ... this is the case with little Frankie (short for Franklyn). This sweetheart of a pup was found with six puppies scrounging for any available food up and down a rural road that is heavily traveled. Fortunately, somehow she and all the babies avoided being roadkill and were accepted into the OOTW program. We believe Frankie was dumped before she gave birth as she was seen many times traveling the road. She had on a collar and no one was really trying to catch her. Once the babies started trailing her, volunteers jumped into action and rescued the whole family over a couple of weeks. The babies are all adopted and now that Frankie has recovered from the birth of those six babies out in the woods, she's ready to find her forever home.Frankie is a little love bug who loves her people. She is not, however, great with other dogs. Being a terrier mix, she has a big attitude and a small brain. All the dogs in her current foster home are much larger than she is, yet she keeps everyone in line. She could efficiently run any boot camp! We also do not believe this girl will be good with cats as she is a dedicated "hunting" dog, spending hours at a time, staking out the backyard shed just in case something, anything, might venture out from under there! Frankie wants to sleep at your feet UNDER THE COVER! Usually that doesn't last long as she gets hot and comes out, but you can expect her to start her night there if you allow that. She is also a big fan of her owner's shoes. She will not harm the shoes at all, but she gets at least one and puts it nearby her. At first, that seemed to be a really cute thing ... now it's a little annoying. Frankie weighs in at just under 19 pounds. She has a smooth coat but the coloring of a Yorkie. She will not need to be groomed for haircuts. She's a little thin, but she should never weigh over 20-22 pounds. Frankie is up to date on all her vetting, is leash trained, rides well in a car, is crate trained (although she is not required to be crated at her foster home), doggie-door trained and house trained. This little dog is a foster mom's dream and honestly a keeper if she was better with the other dogs. But with dogs in and out constantly, it's just not right to keep her from living the life she was meant for!
