Meet dakota darling certified lover boy

Dakota Darling is the kind of dog who makes you smile before you even realize you’re smiling. He’s got that soft, soulful look in his eyes like he’s already picked you, he’s just waiting for you to catch up. Equal parts playful and laid-back, Dakota has a way of fitting himself right into your day… and your heart. One minute he’s trotting happily through the yard, the next he’s quietly curled up nearby, just happy to be included. If you believe dogs choose their people, Dakota might already be choosing you.

In most cases, with rescue dogs, we can’t guarantee the breed and it’s always a mystery but with Dakota Darling we know what is DNA is and what makes him so adorable. A DNA test was done and it came back primarily pittie! So no need to question what this cutie’s genetic make up is, we already know! He is estimated to be around 9 months old and currently weighs 35 lbs and is still growing.

Dakota is currently thriving in a loving foster home where he’s perfected the art of being a puppy: playing hard, napping often, soaking up the sunshine, and lounging on the couch like a professional. He lives with a large group of dogs and does great with them, happily playing and socializing throughout the day. He’s also wonderful with adults and does well with kids.

This smart, sweet guy is potty trained using a doggie door and crate trained. He’s comfortable and quiet in his crate for 5+ hours and sleeps there at night, but during the day his crate is left open so he can pop in for a nap whenever the mood strikes. Most of the time, though, you’ll find him stretched out on the couch or roaming in and out of the house and fenced yard.

Dakota is still a young fella and still has that puppy energy about him. He loves to play, get the zoomies, and is a total joy to be around. Dakota is not all about play time and knows when it’s time to settle down and take a nap after a good play session in the back yard or walk throughout the neighborhood. He walks fairly well on a leash and is still learning his commands, so continued training will help him keep shining. A home with a yard to run in would be a dream come true for this boy.

Overall, Dakota is a sweet, affectionate, slightly goofy pup who’s equal parts fun and cuddly. He’s looking for a family who’s ready for puppy laughs, puppy love, and a loyal best friend who will happily follow you from room to room.
If you’re ready for kisses, couch cuddles, and a whole lot of joy, Dakota is ready for you!

We are willing to test Dakota Darling with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 7 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
