Hey guys, it’s me, Gary!

When the kind folks at The Love Pit pulled me from the shelter, I was in pretty rough shape — and wow, was I glad they did. My front paw had been badly injured, and boy, did it hurt! Unfortunately, my foot couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated… but guess what??? I can still run and gun with the best of them. Seriously.

I'm happy to report that I’m safe, snug, and healing in my foster home. My foster dad says I’m still “getting my footing” (pun absolutely intended). I’m taking things slow with my foster fur sibling so we can get to know each other and smoothly co-exist.

I haven’t had the chance to meet kids or cats yet, but I’m hopeful I’ll get to someday so we can see how we feel about each other. I am house trained and crate trained — though I’ll admit, I may protest briefly when I first go in. Once I remember that my crate is my safe space, I settle right in.

I love the companionship and affection of people most of all, but fluffy, squishy toys are a close second. I also enjoy car rides, sunbathing in the backyard, and exploring my neighborhood through the fence while I’m still in recovery mode.

My foster dad says I’m a smart guy and that I’m picking up good habits quickly — like sit, place, and down. He’s also been patiently working with me on my leash skills, and he says I’m catching on fast.

All in all, I’d say I’m a pretty lucky guy who’s ready for a home to call my own. (Since I’m new and the TLP folks are still learning all about me, they say I could do well as an only pup or with other dogs as long as slow intros and boundaries are set!)

I’m looking for a second chance at love — and maybe that home is yours.
