Meet fred
Looking to find the right placement for a special dog named Fred. He is an Australian shepherd/border collie-type mix, approximately 4 years old and 50 pounds. He is sweet, sensitive, intelligent, and deeply affectionate once he feels safe. He plays wonderfully with other dogs and settles beautifully in a calm home environment. He does pretty well on a leash and settles well at home.
Fred exhibits fear-based reactivity toward unfamiliar people and separation anxiety. The separation anxiety shows up as pacing, excessive drooling, and barking; and he will settle only after he becomes exhausted. He is not destructive, but he becomes distressed. The fear-based reactivity shows up freezing, growling, locking eyes. If signals are missed, he may escalate to barking, lunging, snapping. But he has shown meaningful improvements in these areas with the right training and handling.
He is truly a love and wants to please. He just needs a little time to build trust and a steady hand.
