rex (aka licorice)

Fenton, MI

Meet rex (aka licorice)

Rex is a resilient, affectionate boy with a heart as big as his incredible spirit 💛🐾

Born with congenital megaesophagus, Rex has learned that a little extra care just means a little extra love. He needs to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so his meals can safely reach his stomach — and he handles his special routine like an absolute champ. He thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet (currently The Farmer’s Dog), which has been working wonderfully for him.

Rex will need lifelong management, including his upright feeding routine, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to help him feel his very best. While megaesophagus can shorten a dog’s lifespan, Rex refuses to let it define him or dull his joy. He greets each day with enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and an eagerness to be close to his people.

He is a loving, social sweetheart who adores attention, companionship, and being part of the action. Rex is looking for a dedicated, compassionate adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he truly deserves. In return, he’ll give you unwavering love, resilience that inspires, and a bond that is nothing short of extraordinary.
